This diversity of terroirs means there is a fairly large choice of wines, ranging from the tannic and powerful style of the southern part of the appellation (around Pommard) to the supple and elegant wines of Savigny and the northern Beaune. A wine of a shimmering ruby color of moderate intensity shading to a softer hue at the fade with glints of orange signaling the beginning of development.
